Ok everyone. I stupidly decided to ask dr. google about zof.ran and pregnancy, and now I am freaking out. I am reading too many scarey stories about birth defects from taking it during pregnancy. I need stories from those of you who took zof.ran. Is your child all right?
It's a wonderful drug, I admit, but have I done something completely terrible by taking it?
help!

Breathe. Step away from Dr. Google. He's the devil. Blast him. I don't have any been there, done that. But I do know a lot of people who did take Zofran and their babies were perfectly fine. Your doc wouldn't have prescribed it if it was bad.
I'm a mother of three and to take it with all three pregnancies. All three of my children is just fine. Don't google.
Step away from Google! :-)
Seriously, I was very concerned about this myself, but I ended up having to take Zofran because my nausea was so severe and unremitting that I couldn't work or even drink water like I needed to. My OB reassured me that it was perfectly safe.
I took at least one Zofran a day (and sometimes more) from about 7 weeks to 15 weeks, and then still took it occasionally, as needed, between 15 and 22 weeks.
Our twin boys are just fine and have absolutely no birth defects! In fact, they are considered advanced for preemies born just after 34 weeks.
So fear not: you have not done something completely terrible by taking it. If you need it, take it.
I took Zofran, and Alex is great!!! Stay away from google - it is truly evil. If your doc suggested it and wanted you to take it (which mine did as well) then trust their opinion! They're the experts!
I took Zofran until 21 weeks. No defects yet (24.5 weeks). ;)
I know many women who have taken Zofran and have had no ill-effects (of the birth defect variety, of the constipation variety, yes). I still take it on as-needed basis, but not daily anymore. As far as I am concerned, it's a wonder drug. I would not have been able to care for my toddler without it during the first half of this pregnancy.
I am pretty sure it must be ok to take it if you were prescribed it. Keep in mind, that go.oogle is not always representing independent and reliable clinical data. Obviously, there could be a side effect of anything and if that happens 1 in a million, the internet will pick it out. Just to make poor us more anxious when we need an answer right away. I wouldn't worry about it and trust asking the caretaker pros.
I hope morning sickness will subside very soon. I am sorry it is hitting you so bad.
Thanks, all! I know better than to google ANYTHING!
le sigh
Did you ever read the blog that was called something like, "We got hitched, bought a 4 bedroom house, now what?!"? I remember she was preg with twins and I think she was so bad she literally was on an IV of zofran just so she could keep anything down for nutrition. Her kiddos were both okay!
I took Zofran from day 3 of bcp in my IVF cycle almost daily until 14 weeks, then as needed til delivery. My ivf baby is PERFECT. Practically everyone I know was on it at one time or another during pregnancy and everything was fine - I have never heard of any defects from it :)
My mom took doctor prescribed SPEED to control her weight when she was pregnant with my sister. SPEED. She had to set the alarm to take it at 5am so she could go to sleep at night. My sister is fine and your babies are fine.
Trust yourself Momma.
ps - Also know friend who has beautiful baby girl, now one. You want her email addy?? ;)
